Following the recent take over of Mubi town, Adamawa state by the Boko Haram sect, the Nigerian military and police unit are on a mission to engage the sect in a fierce battle.
One of the fleeing residents, Bo who expressed his happiness at the development said the mobile police special anti-terrorist unit had already reached Marraba Mubi Junction, about 18 kilometres from Mubi town.
Another report says the Nigerian military backing the police unit and led by a colonel was at Pella Junction, 80 kilometres from Mubi.
Two residents of Marraba Mubi, Yohanna Gambo and Sanda Zira, told reporters in Yola that they saw a detachment of mobile police officers keeping vigil at the junction leading to Mubi and Michika Local Governments.
"In fact, we are shocked and surprised to see a handful of mobile police officer because since the fall of Mubi, we have not seen a security man," Mr. Gambo said.
It was reported that the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, whose hometown was taken over by the sect with his house was burnt has expressed his sadness over the attack.
The sect aside their callous act of killing scores, burning houses, they went as far as taking over Mubi town in Adamawa state and renaming it to Madinatul Islam" meaning the city of Islam.
On October 29, the Islamist group, Boko Haram stormed Mubi, Adamawa state as they carried out a massive attack causing residents to flee including troops.
Recall, it was reported hundreds of Nigerian soldiers were said to have fled Mubi when the Boko Haram attacked the town.
