Former minister of foreign af fairs, Prof. Bolaji Akinyemi, has raised the alarm over a grim picture awaiting the country during the 2015 elections asking Presi dent Goodluck Jonathan and former head of state, General Muhammadu Buhari, to sign an under taking that they will not ignite violence.
Akinyemi, in a letter to Jonathan and Buhari submit ted that there were indices that the country might be visited with massive violence no mat ter the outcome of the election.
President Jonathan is seeking re-election on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while Buhari is chal lenging him on the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Akinyemi, who served recently as the deputy chairman of the national conference, urged first class religious lead ers and notable opinion lead ers and respected Nigerians to compel the two contestants to sign an undertaking that they would call their supporters to order and prevent the eruption of violence prior to and after the election slated for February.
