FG, DSS DISOWN AJAERO LED NLC EXECUTIVE

The Federal Government and the Department of State Security (DSS) have disowned the factional leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) led by the General Secretary of the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), Comrade Joe Ajaero.
The Minister of Labour and Productivity, Senator Joe Danlami Ikenyi, said during a courtesy visit by the current NLC leadership headed by Comrade Ayuba Wabba, in Abuja Friday, that the Ajaero group only exists on the pages of newspapers.

"We have not heard and we have not gotten any letter from anywhere in respect of any other NLC and it was in the cable of every Nigerian that there was an election here in Abuja and our ministry participated in monitoring the process of the election," he said.
"Therefore we will not run into controversy because that is your internal issue, the ministry is not part of it and we know that you will sort yourselves out because there is a process and I know that all of you know that process," Ikenyi added.
Ikenyi called on the new leadership to always engage the government in dialogue over all issues bordering on workers and national well being.

The new NLC President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba lamented that the devaluation of the naira is taking its toll on Nigerian masses.
He said the immediate effect is that the current minimum wage of N18000 has been reduced in value.
"We are not here to bother you with those issues but just to tell you that issues on decent work agenda should be top most on your agenda, issue of causualisation, outsourcing of staff and the issue of ensuring that there is industrial peace and harmony in the work place. These are issues that I am sure will shape the day to day relationship that we will be having with you and we thought that it is important for us to visit you and welcome you in to our midst," he stated.
