The bureau said of this number, 5,735 or 1.64 per cent were recorded in the public sector; 145,464 or 41.6 per cent were in the formal sector and 198,144 or 56.72 per cent in the informal sector.
It added, "Several programmes and interventions have been introduced by the present government to create more jobs for young people and also ensure that the enabling environment for the private sector to thrive is put in place.
"Evidently, jobs are being created in the formal sector as shown by the increasing expansion of bank branches and expansion of activities of internationally and local wholesale and retail trading establishments, including large supermarkets.
"In quarter three of 2014, a total of 349,343 jobs were created across all sectors of the Nigerian economy. Of these, 5,735 or 1.64 per cent were recorded in the public sector, 145,464 or 41.6 per cent were in the formal sector and 198,144 or 56.72 per cent in the informal sector."
It said the number of jobs created in the public sector represented a growth of 923 jobs or 19.18 per cent from the 4,812 recorded in the preceding quarter.
For the formal sector, it said the jobs created in that sector represented an increase of 66,710 jobs or 84.71 per cent, while that of informal sector rose by 22,358 jobs or 12.72 per cent from the figure recorded the second quarter.
By economic activity, the report said the manufacturing sector was the largest employer in the formal sector, with 39.98 per cent of the total employed in Q3.
The manufacturing sector became the leading employer in Q3 increasing from 15.54 per cent in second quarter to 39.98 per cent of the total in Q3 2014.
The second largest was Human Health and Social Services with 17.79 per cent of the total, followed by trade, with 15.78 per cent of the total.
It said almost all sectors recorded increases in formal employment.
