WHAT RIVERS PDP SAID ABOUT APC SECRETARIAT BOMBING.

The Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State has condemned the bombing of a building housing the office of
All Progressives Congress in Okrika Local Government Area
of the state.
The state PDP explained that it received with sadness the
report of the destruction of the building and called on
security agencies to bring the perpetrators of the dastardly
act to book.

A statement signed by the Special Adviser to the State
Chairman of the PDP, Mr. Jerry Needam, appealed to
politicians to play politics with love, tolerance and fairness.
Expressing the belief that those involved in the bombing of
the APC secretariat in Okrika must have done it out of an ill-
conceived motive, the state PDP frowned on an earlier
statement credited to the governorship candidate of the
APC in the state, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, that PDP supporters
were responsible for the act.
"The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party,
receives the reported destruction of a building
accommodating the Local Government Council Office of the
All Progressives Congress in Okrika with sadness, and calls
on the security agencies to ensure perpetrators of such
needless action are brought to book.

"The party believes that whoever carried out such reckless
act may have done it out of ill-conceived motive, not
germane to democratic principles, appealing to all
politicians to play politics with love, tolerance and fairness.
"The PDP also frowns at the early statement credited to the
APC guber candidate, Mr. Dakuku Peterside, alleging that
PDP supporters were responsible for the action, describing
Mr. Peterside's claim as premature, irresponsible, inciting
and least expected of the calibre of person he claims to
be," the statement read.
It, however, urged the police to conduct wider investigation
into the incident and added that the act might have been
perpetrated by aggrieved members of the APC who were
still not satisfied with Peterside's candidacy.
According to the statement, "The PDP further calls on the
Police and other security agencies to intensify their
operations in tracking down APC members destroying its
campaign materials and those of the party's gov candidate,
Chief Nyesom Wike."
