Tambuwal as reliably gathered, will be issued his APC membership card on tuesday morning at his ward in Tambuwal.
Tambuwal, defected officially on Monday in a meeting of APC stakeholders which he attended. Also at the meeting was Governor Aliyu Wamako, his home state Governor. Meanwhile some members of the house of representative are expected to defect along with him from the PDP to APC.
His spokesman, Imam Imam, when contacted told journalists on phone that "It was a stakeholder's meeting", saying that the attendance of former finance minister, Alhaji Alhaji, is an indication that it was not partisan. He said "Tambuwal has always attended APC stakeholders meetings".
After the meeting, Tambuwal was reported to have gone to his hometown to register as a ward member, he is not expected to make an official announcement on the floor of the house, of his defection. It was gathered that it was agreed at the meeting that all candidates of the party for 2015 elections will be adopted by consensus.
The leadership of APC may have endorsed Tambuwal as the presidential candidate of the party. It was gathered from reliable source, that other presidential aspirants, including Major General Mohammadu Buhari(Rtd) are being persuaded to step down for the speaker.
The APC are alleged to be banking on Tambuwal's presumed integrity and pedigree as they feel it is a strong point over other party candidates. They are also banking on his alleged courage to refuse all interferences of the PDP and the Presidency.
Tambuwal's defection has long been anticipated, so his decamping is no news. His display of courage in shunning interference of the political party under whose platform he won election into the house might not be unconnect with a hindsight on his ambition to become the president on the APC platform which eventually paid off.
Tambuwal, in his administration of the affairs of the house has always been sympathetic to the cause of the APC at the detriment of the ruling Party, PDP. He has engaged in several acts of anti-party activities. His attendance of stakeholders meetings of the APC alone is enough to judge him as anti-party element.
How Tambuwal will emerge as a consensus candidate is going to be a subject of political intrigues that may mar the fortunes of the APC at the polls and how he intends to contest against an incumbent President and make an inpression is one that should be left for the future to unravel.
