Like the popular bible verse that says by their fruit, ye shall know them. The manner in which Mr Shehu Sani, a human right activist and a former Journalist, Salkida are carying on as the mouthpiece or voice for the Boko Haram has left little to be desired
It could be recalled that the first time the death of the leader of the sect, Abubakar shekau was reported by the Nigerian Military, Shehu Sani was among the firsts to discredit and refute the claim, saying that Shekau was still alive.
Shehu Sani, has never hidden his intention to coordinate and mediate in the dialogue between the Federal Govt, and the Boko Haram sect, therefore if he is found playing down on the achievements of the Federal Government and the Nigerian Military, having discovered that he was not patronized in the process that led to the negotiations, it is understandable.
When in another occurrence, the Nigerian Soldier killed the impostor of Shekau, Shehu Sani still insisted that the original Shekau is still very much alive.
In his usual manner, Shehu Sani has once again discredited the alleged ceasefire agreement reached between the Federal Government and the Boko Haram sect. He said the sect has denied knowing any Mr. Ahmadu as their representative.
Shehu Sani in his words said, "All my attempts to confirm the ceasefire deal did not produce any result. My sources are telling me that they don't know who that person is", He also said for Boko Haram to reach any ceasefire, such information must come from the leader of the group.
He further said, " Any statement that is not coming from the leader (Abubakar Shekau) of the group cannot be said to be credible and will not be complied with by the group members", talking about the Shekau that the military has reported dead, as he said, "the leader is the only person they respect and listen to"
In the same vein, a Nigerian journalist, who is alleged to have had several negotiations with the sect in the past, has also expressed doubt over the claims of ceasefire deal.
Common denominators between Shehu Sani and Silkida is that they seem to know so much about Boko Haram, they are very quick to sympathize with the group, they are eagerly waiting to be contracted for the job of mediating in the dialogue between the duo. And from the above deductions, it is intructive that they will be totally out to down-play any achievement recorded by the Federal Govt, in ending the long drawn conflict and if possible scuttle any progress made so far.
